Kanenus College believes that developing research capacity is crucial both to its institutional missions and to its survival as an institution of higher education and training. Thus, the establishment of Research, Publications and Development Office is found to be essential in order to improve and sustain the quality of teaching-learning processes and generate a culture of intellectual endeavours and environment. It also encourages the cross fertilization of ideas and expertise which the College strongly desires to promote. No less important, much of our collaborative work with the business, industry, and the public sector will become a reality through research and disseminating research outputs. Bearing all these in mind, the range of activities to be undertaken associated with research by the office is outlined as follows:
- Study and identify research priorities which are believed to play an important role in terms of promoting the development process of the country.
- Prepare and adopt feasible and flexible guidelines for research and disseminating research outputs.
- Encourage and motivate the staff members and students to be directly and strongly involved in research activities.
- Prepare and submit research proposals to domestic and foreign financiers and aggressively negotiate with them in a way that funds for undertaking research are secured
- Organize workshops in which research findings are presented and disseminated.
- Coordinate and support the preparation and publication of relevant textbooks and instructional teaching materials.
- Ensure that all publications meet the required standard.
- Publish and distribute journals, manuals, proceedings, newsletters, etc. that could be used as communications media and serve as a platform for exchanging views and experiences within the academia and beyond.
- Establish links with other similar institutions.
- Approve research projects submitted from different departments/ faculties.
- Work with different committees in connection with research activities in the College.
- Prepare work plans, programmes, and budget of the Department of Research and Publications.
- Prepare annual reports with respect to research undertakings, budgetary allocations, and mode of utilization.
- Carry out other related duties assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
